Hey loyal readers (mom),
I fly tomorrow morning and I had planned on writing a last prayer letter before I fly, but that did not happen.
So instead I will write this quick letter, as the list of what needs to be done starts going through my mind again. :)
I have cried a bit but mostly I am just excited to get back to the U.S., but now I dont know why cuz my future is uncertain and I hate that. I dont need to hear that that is also exciting, I know. I am just kind of typing what passes through my mind so it may not be very coherent, let me try again.
I am coming home.
I am excited to see my parents, S.B., the ocean, clothes I left at home and havent worn over and over and over again for the past year (like the clothes that are all packed up in my suitcases right now), I am excited to eat Mexican food, avocadoes, milk shakes, barbecued fish, corn on the cob, chili and corn bread, GOOD ice cream. I am excited to watch movies, listen to music and read books that I havent had access to for the past year (FOUR years really). I am excited to get to know my childhood neighborhood again, I am looking forward to visiting my friends in Portland, Seattle and Vancouver.
I am nervous about being disappointed by my hopes and excitements for the next year. I am nervous about the many unknowns still.
I dont look forward to people not realizing I have changed and treating me like I am four years younger than I am.
But I am just trying to look on the bright side for the next few days so that I can be excited and enjoy my first days at home.
Up and down, this is an up and down ride. Hold on, keep your arms and legs in the vehicle at all times, thank you.
